Gateway - LoRaWAN Traffic

Prev Next

This page provides traffic analytics for LoRaWAN communication. It helps visualize how devices interact with the network over time, focusing on uplinks, downlinks, device activity, and transaction counts. The goal is to give operators a clear overview of traffic volume and trends, making it easier to identify device behavior, network usage, or anomalies.

Interval Selector

  • Located at the top (e.g., “Monthly”).

  • Allows the user to adjust the time granularity of the displayed data.

  • Common options include:

    • Hourly

    • Daily

    • Weekly

    • Monthly

This flexibility enables both short-term monitoring and long-term trend analysis.

Hover Data Tooltip

  • When hovering over a bar in any chart, a tooltip appears showing the exact values for that interval.

Uplinks

  • Shows the number of uplink messages (data sent from devices to the network).

  • Presented as a bar chart with counts plotted against the selected time interval.

  • Useful for monitoring device reporting behavior and identifying bursts of activity.

Downlinks

  • Displays the number of downlink messages (commands or acknowledgments sent from the network to devices).

  • Also shown as a bar chart.

  • Provides visibility into how often the network communicates back to devices (e.g., configuration updates or confirmed message acknowledgments).

Average Device Count

  • Tracks the average number of active devices communicating within each time interval.

  • Allows operators to correlate traffic with device population (e.g., did traffic increase because more devices came online, or because existing devices sent more data?).

Average Transaction Count

  • Shows the average number of transactions (uplink/downlink events) per device.

  • Highlights device activity density and helps identify abnormal device behaviors (e.g., devices transmitting too frequently).
