Gateway - LoRaWAN Metrics

Prev Next

The Gateway Dashboard page provides a real-time view of gateway performance and health metrics, segmented into visual components for easier monitoring and diagnostics.

Located at the top, the Interval Selector allows adjusting granularity (e.g., 5 min, Hourly, Daily) for trend analysis over time.

This page also have the following feature

  • Interactive Range Selection: Click and drag over the bar chart to highlight a continuous period.

  • Granular Data Inspection: Hovering over a date within the highlighted range shows precise data (in this case, number of connected devices).

Devices

This bar chart shows the number of unique devices actively communicating through the selected gateway per selected time interval. It helps verify if devices are regularly transmitting data or if any disruption in communication occurs.

Received Transactions

This chart displays the total of received uplink transactions per gateway depends on the selected interval. It reflects the volume of data coming into the system and is useful for identifying periods of inactivity or traffic spikes.

  • Use the Transaction Type dropdown to switch views between different transaction categories

Round Trip Time

This line chart visualizes the average time taken for a message to be sent and acknowledged. A flat or increasing trend can indicate latency issues or possible congestion in the gateway’s communication path.

CPU and Memory Utilization

This chart shows daily system resource usage:

  • Green Line: Memory utilization

  • Blue Line: CPU utilization

These metrics are essential for capacity planning and for detecting resource bottlenecks that may require hardware or software adjustments.

Backhaul Monitoring (Daily)

This section monitors gateway network interface performance, segmented by connection type:

  • Ethernet (default view)

  • WiFi

  • Cellular

  • Fiber

Metrics include:

  • Backhaul Errors – Packet errors in the transmission path.

  • Dropped Packets – Lost or discarded packets before delivery.

  • Inbound/Outbound Bytes – Total data sent/received.

Dropdown lets you toggle between different connection types to identify link-specific issues.
